The third annual Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s Civics Games Editorial and Cartoon Contest is now open!

Middle and high schoolers are invited to submit a letter to the editor, guest column or cartoon capturing what the First Amendment means to them.

A WCRIS student won first place in the middle school category in last year’s contest. Go here to watch a video of the student talking about his submission, where he highlights how the First Amendment allows him to attend a Catholic school. Skip to the 9:14 timestamp to see his interview.

Contest submissions are due Dec. 4. Winners will receive a cash prize ranging from $50-$500 dollars, and their work will be published in newspapers across the state.
