On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence made the first visit of a sitting Vice President to Wisconsin’s state Capitol urging parents to fight for the right to select the school of their choice — public, private, charter, virtual or home school.

Currently, many Wisconsin public school districts are trying to convince taxpayers that school choice is “hurting public schools” by putting selective information about the cost of the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program in tax bills.

In reality, open enrollment (also known as public school choice) is having a bigger financial impact on public school districts. But why should we be pitting one parent’s choice against another? Shouldn’t our public policies support parents making the best educational choice possible for their children?

That was a question posed by Virginia Walden Ford, a Washington, D.C. mother who fought to save her son from illiteracy and gang affiliation by selecting a school that reinforced her values.

See Ford’s story in a full-length feature film. You can get a free copy to screen at your school to show parents why parental choice matters.
