Change Sought by WCRIS Now Permanent

When Congress provided the first round of Coronavirus relief aid, it inadvertently created accounting problems for voucher schools. WCRIS jumped into the fray and sought an emergency rule change from DPI that would allow the state to administer the federal funds in a way that doesn’t hurt schools in a parental choice program.

All choice and SNSP Administrators were notified today by DPI of Clearinghouse Rule 21-046, which excludes the forgiven portion of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans from offsetting revenue in the reserve balance schedules.

It was effective March 1, 2022. This makes the previous emergency rules regarding PPP loans part of permanent rules in Wisconsin Administrative Code PI 35, 48, and 49.
