Gov. Tony Evers and Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes are hosting four virtual, issue-based listening sessions with Wisconsinites while the Governor builds a proposed 2021-23 State Budget, to be introduced to the Legislature in February.

Two of the sessions are of particular interest to WCRIS schools:

Budget Listening Session on Healthcare and Public Health
Tuesday, November 17, at 6 p.m.
Register to attend here.

Budget Listening Session on Our Schools and Education
Wednesday, December 16, at 6 p.m.
Registration will be live one week before the listening session date.

A full schedule of the listening sessions is available on the governor’s website here. All participants must register to attend on the governor’s website here. Wisconsinites are also welcome to submit written comments here on any topic at any time.

WCRIS principals should not be shy about registering and encouraging the Governor to:

  1. Treat all students equitably, whether in public or private schools.
  2. When it comes to COVID-19 relief, private school students and teachers need equitable access to: mental health services; PPE; broadband; virtual or other online education support; and professional development. However, we want to be invited to participate, not forced to.
  3. Private schools also need inclusion in pandemic-related waivers from statutes and rules, just like the public schools.
