The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has several resources available to help support teachers providing online instruction.

Paid for with federal ESSER funds from the CARES Act, the training and programs are open to all schools and teachers. To see a complete list of offerings and to register, go to the DPI’s web page here: Providing Training for Educators in the Provision of Online and Remote Instruction.

A new professional learning opportunity supporting teachers in developing effective remote and in-person learning experiences during the COVID-19 public health emergency is now available. The national project is called Universal Design for Learning or UDL. It is a framework for proactively designing learning environments and experiences – from the beginning – that enable students to gain knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for learning.

The UDL project provides four intersecting options — blasts of information you can use now; coaching labs to apply UDL to real-life scenarios and technical assistance; communities of practice to connect with other professionals; and virtual conferences you can hop on and off daily or access 24/7. The project is supported through regional CESA networks and CAST, the national technical assistance center for UDL.
