Private schools in Wisconsin are required by state law to annually file a PI-1207 form documenting student enrollment. The form is now all online. But DPI officials report that about 300 private schools have not completed it for this school year.

It’s important to know that it’s a forward-looking document and once filed, it leaves a school off the list of those needing to be checked for hours of instruction. So, even though the PI-1207 is filed at the beginning of the school year, and can’t account for weather or other disruptions to the school year ahead (like a pandemic), it’s the main method the DPI uses to verify a school has met the hours of instruction law.

Bottom line: If you have filed a PI-1207, you have met the hours of instruction requirement for the school year. Go to this page on the DPI website to file your report.
