Funding for the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS) was cut in the recently-passed state budget, but the OSS and the Speak Up, Speak Out tip line will remain open through 2024.

The DOJ reallocated federal COVID relief funds it received from the American Rescue Plan Act to the OSS so that it can continue operating the 24/7 school safety tip line. OSS officials hope to receive future funding from the legislature to sustain the program after 2024.

Students and staff can use the tip line to report suspicious or threatening behavior. Learn more here.
