At the request of our member schools across the state, WCRIS has created the first-ever Choice Handbook. With the expansion of school choice state-wide, and the ever increasing regulations and complicated processes and procedures required to participate in Choice, school administrators said their heads were spinning trying to track all the requirements and information.

Now, with the help of school administrators, accountants, and attorneys, WCRIS has tackled that problem for the benefit of its member schools and compiled key Parental Choice Program information all in one place.

Modeled after the WCRIS Legal Handbook, the WCRIS Choice Handbook provides in laymen’s terms, information and policies about the state’s Choice programs and Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP) that school leaders have asked for.

Among many other things, the WCRIS Choice Handbook includes: explanations of the process for joining a Choice program and the SNSP; the unique issues schools face and how they tackle those challenges; accounting requirements and audits; the process for school accountability measures; a discussion of the religious opt-out provision and parent volunteering; information on tuition charges, and many tips learned by veteran school administrators who are in a Choice program.

The Handbook also provides check-lists, a calendar of dates by program for the coming year, template letters to Choice parents, a glossary, links to online forms, and, links to the statutes and official rules behind the program.

The 80-page Handbook is professionally bound with a sturdy cover and is available to WCRIS member schools for only $50. Non-members pay $250. This is a print-only publication and will not be available digitally.

To order a copy, print this order form and mail it with payment to WCRIS. Or, place your order with a credit card by calling WCRIS at (608) 287-1224.
