You can learn about the activities and risk level of your area’s young people by reviewing the results of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey. The survey is conducted annually by the Department of Public Instruction.

Results are available by county for the first time ever. Private schools were invited to participate in the survey, but were not required to.

The information from the survey reveals various issues that teens in Wisconsin high schools are facing. Some of these issues include mental health, suicide, feeling safe, bullying, and physical health and hygiene.

School leaders can use this information to understand what their community’s students may be feeling or navigating in their lives. This may help inform your school’s approach to cultural pressures and offer your school’s unique values and beliefs to help younger students prepare for the future.
