If you’ve hired a new School Nutrition Director (SND) or you are in the process of finding a new one, please take note of following:
- Each “School Food Authority” must have a person designated as “director” of your food program.
- This person must also meet specific education or school nutrition experience along with eight hours of food safety training.

After you hire a new SND, you should update your contract with the DPI School Nutrition Team (SNT) here.
In the event that you hire someone who is not qualified for the position, your school should contact the Karrie Isaacson, SNT Assistant Director at the Department of Public Instruction, about how to complete a Request for Hiring Standards Exemption form.
