Some of our member schools  have been questioning what trainings, located on the DPI’s website, are required for staff at all private schools versus just for staff at choice or Special Needs Scholarship schools.

During a meeting today with the DPI, the department said it plans to update its website and may issue more information to all private schools in the coming weeks.

See clarifications for private schools from the DPI about each training found on its website. DPI has promised to update its website with the following information soon:

For All Private Schools

  • Bloodborne Pathogens: Required for all private school employees that can reasonably be anticipated to be exposed to blood
  • Medication Administration: According to the DPI, “Training is required for all private school employees or volunteers assigned to give medications by certain routes prior to administering medication; however, private school employees and volunteers may use a training other than DPI’s training if preferred.”
  • Student Records and Confidentiality: Not generally required for private schools, but could be in certain instances

Only for Choice and SNSP Students
