Public school students’ reading and math abilities have declined to an alarming level, according to annual test scores recently released by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics.

Catholic school students’ scores, however, landed higher than their public school counterparts. Private school participation was not high enough to warrant an overall national sample.

Though students are still struggling to recover from progress lost during the pandemic, these test results demonstrate that private schools can be a beacon of hope.
