Mental health resources have never been more important as schools navigate the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent research found that Generation Z (ages 10-25) are twice as likely to experience feelings of depression than older adults. And more than half of Wisconsin’s high school students reported struggling with anxiety in 2021.

Some member schools have invested in counselors and additional mental health resources already. WCRIS’ proposed Health and Safety Grant Program would help your school do even more to support students and staff.

Governor Evers has proposed that over $200 million of the state’s record budget surplus is allocated to address mental health in schools. It’s WCRIS’ goal that our schools and students are not forgotten.

The Health and Safety Grant Program would provide one-time funding to private K-12 schools to address: school safety, mental health, learning loss, water and air quality and internet connectivity.
